Furniture Donation Procedure

Your support makes a difference for our community and to the families who purchase the homes we build. Funds contributed to Habitat for Humanity are particularly well invested because they are never used up. They are recycled continuously into the future. As current homeowners pay their mortgages, those dollars are then used to construct future homes.

Submit A Donation Guidelines For Donations How Your Donation Helps

How the online process works:

The donor fills out the “Item Donation Form”. Pictures of items are required
MWV Habitat will approve and post the item for sale on its Web Page
The donor would hold the item until it is sold
MWV Habitat would notify donor of a sale and provide information for pickup of the item

When Are Items Picked Up?

Pick-ups are done on Saturdays in the Spring, Summer & Fall. No pickups take place in the winter but items can still be submitted for online sale only.

Refusal of Items

Our volunteer drivers have the right to refuse an item based on condition and prospect of selling.

Prepare Items for Pick-up

If possible, items should be on the first floor, ground floor or garage located where we can easily backup a LARGE box truck.

Fuel Donation

Due to high gas prices we are requesting a $10 fuel donation (check preferred)

After you submit your Item Donation form, please email multiple high quality photos of your item(s) to yardsale@mwv-habitat.org

Guidelines for Donations of Appliances and Furniture

Please do not take offense when we ask questions about the items you wish to donate. We need to ensure that they are in good condition and salable. We do not have a repair shop, cleaning or refinishing department. We must refuse items that are dirty, have broken parts, are disassembled, have loose or chipped paint, or mold. Items must be dry.

Please note: Due to a new EPA ruling, we are no longer able to accept dishwashers, hot water heaters, faucets or any other plumbing supplies used to carry drinking water.

Items we can NOT accept:

TV’s 3 or more years old
Entertainment centers
Mattresses/box springs
Windows and doors – unless new
Exercise equipment, pilates machines, Nortic Track, Stair Steppers, Treadmills
Skis, Snowboards
Photo copier and fax machines
Stereos and speakers
Tape Decks, CD Players
Computers, Printers, Toner, Monitors
FAX Machines
All Appliances older than 5 years old
Hot Water Heaters
Flooring unless new and in box & enough to cover at least 100 sq. ft.
Particle board furniture
Marred, scratched, chipped or damaged wood furniture
Stained, soiled, faded, dirty, ripped or torn upholstered items
Shower stalls, toilets, bath tubs and Jacuzzis unless new
Shower doors
Hospital beds and wheel chairs
Window blinds unless new and in original packaging
Old rusty tools
Faucets or any other plumbing supplies used to carry drinking water – unless new (unused)
Pianos, organs
Motor Oil
Paint, Stain, Flammable Liquids
Hutches, china cabinets
Sleep Sofas, Sleep Loveseats, Sleep Chairs – unless exceptional condition

Home Builds
Money earned supports our local home building program.
Community
Locals looking for furniture, appliances and building supplies are able to buy high quality items at great prices.
Tax Deductible
You, the donor receive an acknowledgment for the items donated as a charitable tax deduction.
